ANNUAL THANKSGIVING MEAL DONATIONS
Since 1992, Highland Presbyterian Church has been in partnership with a number of other churches and agencies who come together to prepare and deliver individual Thanksgiving meals to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity. Over the years, the program has grown to include such diverse organizations as Mobile Meals, the Community Service Center, Grays Creek Elementary, College Heights Presbyterian Church, Victory Ministry, Teague’s Home for Women, Interfaith Hospitality, New Life Mission, House of God, Stanton Hospitality House, New Universal Highway Christian Church, MacPherson Presbyterian Church, Oxford Houses, New Life Deliverance Ministry, Operation Engage, and more. In just the past two years alone, 2,000 meals per year have been prepared and distributed. Pre-sliced and cooked Turkey is ordered from Morty Pride Meats. Dressing, gravy, and green beans are ordered and prepared in the kitchen. Sweet potatoes are prepared by church members as well as prepared by the youth in the church kitchen. Cranberry sauce and rolls are purchased. Pies come from church members, MacPherson Presbyterian church, and purchased. Goody bags are prepared by the children of the church. Well over 150 people are here on Thanksgiving morning to complete the final food warmup, assembly line filling of 2,000 plates, their pack-out, and delivery to various locations throughout the city.
