Greetings from Hong Kong! As you are reading this, I will be on a flight across the Pacific on the way back to Fayetteville from my final doctoral program face-to-face in Hong Kong. It has been an amazing time of learning, stretching and growing. I bring home with me the word that God is at work and doing amazing things in Hong Kong, in mainland China and in all of Asia – there are many faithful people doing amazing work here – some at great personal sacrifice and risk. We met and heard from people who were working at the St. Stephens society with former drug addicts, gang members and those that had been victims of human trafficking; we heard from members of Linklaters – the 10th largest law firm in the world – talking about how they bring their faith to their work in law and finance; we heard from the owner and employee’s of a medical device company that use their work to share God’s love. It was amazing to hear and see. It was also heartening and encouraging. One of the biggest takeaways that I am bringing home is this simple truth: All of us are given gifts by God, all of us are in a position to use those gifts to serve God and share God’s love. All of us are called to be witnesses to God’s love and grace right where we are. That is great preparation for our 2nd Congregational Town Hall, which is coming up this Sunday, Oct. 7th at 4pm. The focus will be Mission and Programs and we hope that you can join us as we discuss what God is doing in and through Highland already and how you can be involved in where and what God is calling us to in the future.
We hope to see you there! Sharing God’s Love, ~Chip
