Mission Central strives to support, promote, and increase the church involvement of individual members of the congregation in the various program and opportunities for service at Highland Presbyterian Church. This group places emphasis on identifying the talents, gifts and interest of members of the congregation and matching those with the needs and opportunities for involvement within, and outside, the church. In addition, Mission Central seeks to make church growth and outreach a congregational effort, and strives to promote Jesus Christ and the benefits of belonging to this community of faith.

The Worship Committee oversees all activities and groups that are involved in creating the worship experience at Highland Presbyterian Church. This committee coordinates the services and events that comprise all aspects of worship.
Subcommittees
Music
Promote the program of music throughout the church through participation in adult, youth and children’s choirs and instrumental groups.
Second Mile Service
Plan and oversee all activities relating to the Second Mile Service
Ushers
Recruit, train and supervise ushers at all services of worship except weddings, ensuring a cross section of the church is involved. Receive offerings at each service of worship. Maintain a funeral ushering team.
Flowers
Manage the flower calendar for worship, flowers to the shut-ins on Mondays.
Wedding Guild
Meet with individuals planning weddings, oversee and direct all weddings.
Sanctuary Guild
Keep the Sanctuary and Chapel current, clean and appointed for worship and special services.
Communion Guild
Obtain and prepare communion elements and arrange for the elders serving communion. Clean and put away items used. Arrange for serving homebound.
Sound
Maintain and operate all sound equipment; recruit, train and schedule lay people to operate the equipment at various services.

The Recreation Committee is responsible for overseeing the operation and the use of the Highland Presbyterian Church gym, recreation and exercise facilities.

The Education Committee develops, initiates, and oversees all aspects of the educational programs with the church. The program is organized into three main divisions: adult, youth and children. The Education Committee also has general oversight of the Highland Learning Center through its Advisory Board.

This committee is concerned with developing and implementing a plan of spiritual and practical care for the church community. This plan is carried out through a variety of means and oversees various sub-committees, such as the Stephen Ministry Team, Crisis Care, Flower Ministry and Shepherd’s Care Ministry team.

The Hospitality Committee is responsible for ensuring that Highland Presbyterian Church provides a welcoming environment for members and visitors through its volunteer greeters and receptionists and through the kitchen support staff who arrange for the preparation and service of refreshments for a variety of church receptions and activities.
